Cook County Assessor's Office Announces New May and June Dates for its Countywide Listening Tour

CHICAGO – The Cook County Assessor’s Office, in partnership with members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, announced the remaining dates for its countywide Listening Tour today.
The tour is part of the office’s commitment to increase transparency. In addition to hearing directly from the Assessor about his work, attendees are able to ask questions about his efforts to create more accurate and fair assessments. The tour began in April with the north triennial district due to their 2019 reassessment this year.
“The listening tours held so far have proven very positive, allowing us to share our plans to improve and reform the property tax system, while also providing an open dialogue with taxpayers to address their questions and concerns,” Assessor Kaegi explained.
The Listening Tour fulfills a key part of Assessor Kaegi’s 100 Day Plan. The Assessor will visit each district in the county at least once, present an update on the office’s plans for increased fairness, ethics and transparency, and engage in a moderated “fireside chat” with a community leader chosen by the Commissioner of that district. Each stop on the listening tour is co-sponsored by a commissioner of the Cook County Board.
“We pledged to work directly with the Commissioners on reforms for our office and have gathered great feedback with them during our first six tours,” Assessor Kaegi said. “We look forward to visiting other areas of the county and meeting with many more residents as our tour continues.”
