Update regarding Requests for Division/Consolidation of Parcels
Wednesday, October 21, 2020
“Division” is the process of reconfiguring tax parcel boundaries. It includes both dividing and consolidating parcels as well as other actions that affect legal descriptions or geographic boundaries of tax parcels.
The deadline to submit a Request for Division/Consolidation for Tax Year 2021 is Monday, November 2, 2020. Fee rates from September & October will still apply. Relevant forms are here.
Filers are strongly encouraged to submit by email to Assessor.divisions@cookcountyil.gov, with a subject line of Request for Division/Consolidation.
In light of COVID-19 and to promptly address your request, the following will be strictly enforced:
- The petition must be complete and not in draft form. We will only accept additional documents if we review the filing and determine information is missing/needs to be updated.
- The email inbox has a restriction of 8MB for attachments. You will either need to resize your documents accordingly or send them in multiple emails; the subject line should reference “x of x” when multiple emails will be submitted.
- Invoices will be emailed directly if all of the documentation is in order; please note that payment can be dropped off in person or must be sent through the mail. You must include the leading PIN in the memo line of your check in order for us to process it. Please make check payable to: Cook County Assessor.
- If you decide to pay in person, please take your invoice and check directly to the FOI Department.
- If you mail in your payment, please send it with your invoice to the following address.
